Our final day in Cairns was spent much the same as the previous day, ambling about, enjoying doing “not a lot at all”
I have bottled “not a lot at all”. When I am back home and life is busy, I can take 5 minutes and remember what it felt like to do “not a lot at all”😍
Throughout the day we made plans to visit friends, filled the hire car ( 🤣 I laugh because back in the UK, we haven’t paid so little for petrol in years). We packed for our trip on The Ghan. As storage space is limited on the train, our new massive suitcase eill have to be stored in the luggage carriage, out of our reach for the entire journey. We planned outfits for the daily excursios, shoes and changes of clothes for dinner. The Ghan isn’t quite like any other rail journey and whilst there is not a strict dress code, it is suggested we dress for dinner.
We went for our final walk along the beach and watched the brave swim in the sea. There was a lifeguard in attendance and a sign, this sign…
Risk of injury from box jelly fish! That was enough to keep me off the beach🤯
The sea temperature read 26 degrees! The air temperature was 28!
Pictures 1 to 5 above tell the story of Trinity Bay during the war years
We had fully intended to take a photo of me stood by a Cairns sign and promised ourselves to take it at Cairns airport but totally forgot🤯. In the absence of reality, we got creative 😳🤣🤣🤣
